Visiting this ancient citadel takes you back in time and invites you to immerse yourself in the history, the beauty and the Incas' mastery of construction and architecture. Built in the 15th century, Machu Picchu is made up of different sectors: political, administrative and religious.
The ultimate expression of balance and connection with nature, this city was built in perfect harmony above the Urubamba River, once considered a sacred river. Abandoned when this majestic civilization collapsed, it was rediscovered by the North American Hiram Bingham in 1911.
Today, Machu Picchu is one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and is officially named the “Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu”.
Hotel transfer to Ollantaytambo is possible on request. From there we take the round-trip train to Aguas Calientes, the gateway town at the foot of the citadel, travelling through the Sacred Valley and the Urubamba canyon.
A round-trip shuttle takes us from Aguas Calientes up to the entrance of the Machu Picchu citadel, where your guide meets you with your entrance ticket.
A French-speaking guide leads the visit (2h30 to 3h00) through the political, administrative and religious sectors, explaining Inca architecture, engineering and their harmony with nature. Several circuits are possible depending on your wishes and availability.
We take the shuttle back down to Aguas Calientes and board the return train to Ollantaytambo. A transfer to your hotel is possible on request.
