HIKE TO THE RAINBOW MOUNTAIN

Group service (a private option with a French-speaking guide is possible). Leave early from Cusco to reach the emblematic Rainbow Mountain, Vinicunca, by tourist bus with an English- and Spanish-speaking guide.

You travel to the small village of Cusipata, where you have breakfast before continuing to Phulawasi, the starting point of the hike to the colorful Vinicunca mountain, which rises to about 5,000 meters above sea level. You will enjoy magnificent landscapes. You then walk back down to rejoin your transport, have lunch and return to Cusco.

STEP 1 - EARLY DEPARTURE FROM CUSCO +

Departure at 4:30 am from Cusco by tourist bus. The trip takes about 5 hours round trip.

STEP 2 - BREAKFAST IN CUSIPATA +

Stop in the small village of Cusipata for breakfast before continuing to Phulawasi.

STEP 3 - HIKE TO VINICUNCA +

Hike from Phulawasi to the colorful Vinicunca mountain, at about 5,000 m. The hike takes about 2h30 round trip.

· Elevation: 4,730 – 5,080 m

STEP 4 - LUNCH AND RETURN TO CUSCO +

Walk back down to your transport, have lunch and return to Cusco.

The difficulty is moderate. The hike lasts about 2h30 round trip and reaches around 5,000 m, so good acclimatization is required.

What time does the tour leave? +

The departure from Cusco is at 4:30 am, and the trip by tourist bus takes about 5 hours round trip.

Is a private tour possible? +

Yes. A private option with a French-speaking guide is possible, as well as combinations with Ausangate or the Red Valley, and other durations. Contact us for details.

How should I prepare for the altitude? +

Spend a couple of days in Cusco beforehand, drink plenty of water, walk slowly and bring layers, as it can be very cold and windy at the top.

What should I bring? +

Sturdy shoes, warm layers, a rain jacket, hat and gloves, sun protection, water and a camera.
